In honor of the reopening of the Ellis Island Immigration Museum on Monday, October 28th, Statue Cruises and its parent company Hornblower Cruises are pleased to present this new blog called Heartbreak & Hope: Stories of Ellis Island.
Between 1892 and 1924, 14.2 million immigrants arrived in the United States through Ellis Island. At its height in 1907, just over 1 million immigrants were processed through the Ellis Island Immigration Station. The lowest year came in 1919 with only 26,731 immigrants coming through Ellis Island. Over the years, the immigration station averaged 432,641 immigrants each year. (Source)
At the Hornblower family of companies, many of our own employees have family stories of immigration through Ellis Island. We hope to share with you these stories, as well as your own. To submit your Ellis Island story of heartbreak or hope, please fill out the information below. We will be in touch with you to discuss your story.
Thank you - we look forward to Ellis Island's reopening!
