This evening the National Park Service will once again light Lady Liberty's torch, which has been dark in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.
In a press release sent out today, the NPS announced that a partnership between the NPS, Musco Lighting and the National Park Foundation is bringing illumination to the torch once again. This is a temporary fix until permanent electricity can be supplied.
The New York Times also provided an update on the state of Lady Liberty today, complete with pictures of the damaged walkways. We're hoping to get everything cleaned up at the island soon and return to our normal schedule, but in the meantime we have some great Harbor Cruises everyday that will get you the best seat in the house when it comes to view of Lady Liberty.
