What were you doing last Saturday morning at 8:30am?
Some of our dedicated employees volunteered with Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco in Daly City to build a local condominium complex.
From installing insulation, to climbing up scaffolding, to painting
the exterior, to nailing in the wallboards, to building drop ceilings, our crew
was busy all day, breaking only for an hour lunch.
What a rewarding experience! Habitat’s mission is to keep
the housing as affordable as possible. To do so, volunteers work alongside the
future homeowners
who contribute 400 hours of blood, sweat and tears in lieu of
a down payment. Talk about bringing the community together.
Additionally, Habitat customizes the mortgage for each family, so that it is no more than 30% of their annual income. What an incentive to become a homeowner!
For those of you who have never volunteered with Habitat before, it is definitely something we recommend trying. It’s an unforgettable and rewarding experience that benefits local families and the community.
Many thanks to Hornblower’s volunteer initiative, All Hands on Deck, comprised of a mix of our volunteers from Hornblower's San Francisco and Corporate office and Alcatraz Cruises: Samantha Espland & Guest, Carey Crites, Martin Wright, Ramsey Brown, Astrid Johannessen, Alison Lowry, Margaret Foster, and Nick Fulwiler!
